I have a car but cannot afford to drive it to volunteer. Print E-mail
The FGP assists you with mileage reimbursement.  The current reimbursement is .20 per mile up to 10 miles per day.  The staff tries to place you within 10 miles of your home.
 
I do not have a car. How will I get to the volunteer station? Print E-mail
The FGP assist with transportation.  If you do not have transportation the program arranges and pays for TAPS for you.
 
What type of activities would I be performing? Print E-mail
FGP volunteers perform personal care, bathing, dressing and feeding, socialization (talking, listening, reading, nurturing and holding), assistance with school work and other tasks addressing the needs of the assigned children.
 
What are some of the stations available? Print E-mail
Some stations are public schools, head start programs, early head start programs, non-profit day care and community centers.  If we don’t already have one established in your area we will explore all opportunities to do so.
